For the Wondershare Data Recovery review, I'll use common data loss scenarios to recover files from ‘My Documents' and a USB drive. Remember, your results may vary depending on your situation — frequency of file recovery and specific data loss scenario.
For the tests, I used my 16GB USB drive, which had different file types and data formats. I also transferred the same files to the computer and saved them under ‘My Documents.' Everything from images to videos and audios to documents files. I even had to add a few items to have a good mix of file formats.

Test #1: File Recovery from a USB Drive
For the USB drive, I started by formatting all the files. Then I proceeded to open the program and head to the ‘External Devices' partition. From here, I just clicked on my USB drive, followed by the ‘Start' button. Before starting the process, you can either search for a specific file type or search everything with the deep scan option. Normally, I'd choose the specific file I'm looking for because it's much faster, but we'll use ‘All-Around Recovery' for today.
The deep scan took about 16 minutes to probe the 16GB flash drive. The time indicator isn't as accurate as I thought because it first indicated 40 minutes at the start, and the process took less than half of the predicted time. As expected, the scan found a lot of files, but the file names had been changed to numbers. There weren't too many files for me, so I decided to restore everything.
From the pop-up window that appears, you can choose the preferred recovery location. To avoid overwriting the files, I opted to recover to a different drive. For this one, the process took less than 2 minutes to restore 3.43GB of files. As said earlier, recovered files bear numbers instead of file names. However, most of the files recovered are exactly the same as the original files. In my case, I couldn't recover a few files, and some restored video files wouldn't play. Despite the mishap, I was happy to recover more than 80% of the files I had deleted before the test.
Test #2: File Recovery from ‘My Documents'
Like I did with the USB drive, I transferred different file formats of images, videos, and other files to my computer before the test. Again, a quick scan normally does it for me, but today we'll go for the kill with the deep scan option. After deleting the files, I opened the Recoverit program, selected the deep scan option, and headed to ‘My Documents.' The program scanned 37.34GB and recovered 3604 files.
Considering that I only wanted a few files back for the test, this was a large number of files for me to sort. The best thing about it is there's a small preview panel that separates what is recoverable and what is not. From the small preview, corrupted images are gray, which means you can't get them back.
The program also allows you to either use the ‘Files View' or ‘Tree View.' For the files view, the files are sorted based on their specific type. On the other hand, the tree view sorts the files on location. This might not be a huge facet, but it makes the recovery process much easier, especially after a deep scan. It took about 30 minutes to sort out everything and see what I actually needed and what I didn't.
The pain of looking through individual files was too much. I used various filter options, including the file size, but the job was still tiring. I recommend using the quick scan if possible, and only going for ‘All Around Recovery' when necessary. There are a few files that were already corrupted and others that I couldn't recover. Overall, I was satisfied with the recovery success percentage, even with the tedious sorting process.
